I have all sorts of tips and tricks available. Ever wonder if you can multiply more than two numbers at once without doing them in pairs only? How about cutting the time needed to add fractions with unlike demoninators by more than half? Maybe you want to know how to prevent or minimize soda bottles from bubbling over and spilling? Want to learn some computer safety tips or 8 ways to speed up multiplication? I have these and many other tips and tricks available.
As of Oct 27, 2008, the rating banners have changed to using an improved version of the stars. Some of these documents are in great need of being updated, but I just haven't had the motive to do so.
Within each tip/trick given, there are 5 main ratings indicators and a sixth as an average of the 5 main ones. The 5 main ratings are the reliability, ease of learning it, amount of time saved, usefulness, and the difficulty. Here's how each is determined, complete with the scale:
- Type - The type of the content, whether a tip, trick, speed-up, or a shortcut. The terms tip, trick, speed-up and shortcut each has a different meaning. A tip is a piece of information of value. These often score around the same for all fields. A trick is a special thing that isn't known by many but can sometimes help a lot and require a special task or a new look at something to accomplish. These typically can give indeterminate ratings for time, and can vary widely in the other fields. A speed-up is just what is says, it's a process that can help speed up a main process. These focus heavily on saving time. A shortcut is an alternate process taken that makes a process take much shorter periods of time. It's focus is mainly time, however, some of these can be pretty tough so check the difficulty as well.
- Reliability - how reliable the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut is. The more limitations the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut has, and the more problems there are with using it, the lower the score.
Scale:
- Extremely high
- Very high
- High
- Medium-high
- Medium
- Medium-low
- Low
- Very low
- Extremely low
- Doesn't apply or rating not possible
- Ease of learning - how easily the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut can be learned. The harder I feel it is for you to learn it, the lower the score.
Scale:
- Extremely easy
- Very easy
- Easy
- Easy-medium
- Medium
- Medium-hard
- Hard
- Very hard
- Extremely hard
- Doesn't apply or rating not possible
- Time saving - what difference of time the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut would take compared to the old or most common method or in general. The bigger the loss of your time, the lower the score, but the more time that is saved, the higher the score.
Scale:
- Huge gain
- Large gain
- Moderate gain
- Small gain
- No effect
- Small loss
- Moderate loss
- Large loss
- Huge loss
- Doesn't apply or rating not possible
- Usefulness - how useful the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut is. A tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut that is very useful when it can be applied, regardless of the difficulty and reliability, scores the most points.
Scale:
- Extremely useful
- Very useful
- Moderately useful
- Somewhat useful
- Neither useful nor useless
- Somewhat useless
- Moderately useless
- Very useless
- Completely useless
- Doesn't apply or rating not possible
- Difficulty - how hard the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut is to apply and use. The harder the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut is to use to someone unskilled on the subject, the lower the score.
Scale:
- Effortless
- Very easy
- Easy
- Easy-medium
- Medium
- Medium-hard
- Hard
- Very hard
- Seems to be impossible
- Doesn't apply or rating not possible
- Overall - the average of the five items above it rounded to the nearest half of a star. The higher this is, the more worthy, overall, the tip, trick, speed-up, and/or shortcut is. If 2 or more of the main ratings are unknown or don't apply, this will also be an "unknown".
Scale:
- Superior
- Excellent
- Great
- Good
- Mediocre
- Fair
- Poor
- Terrible
- Worst
- Unknown
As an example, a shortcut may have something like this:
Type: Shortcut
Reliability:
- High
Ease of learning:
- Easy-medium
Time saving:
- Huge gain
Usefulness:
- Very useful
Difficulty:
- Very easy
Overall:
- Excellent
This shortcut is superior when it comes to saving time, though it may be a bit tough to learn. Overall, it's a good shortcut and worthy to use. It's actual average is 4.3 which rounds to 4.5.
