No breaks for brakes
This is a story based on a somewhat bad dream I had On Aug 25, 2004*. Most of this dream contained the real events in the same order they occured in the dream. It's 94% accurate to what actually happened. This dream was a lot of fun... except when it came to the power lines. Enjoy the story!
On the way to the mall, I was driving a truck. When I arrived, the truck grew a mind of it's own and the brakes suddenly, and instantly, stopped working. About all I could do was steer the truck. I ended up having to fight the minded truck and get it to stop doing what it was doing. Steering on the truck was very sensitive. Moving the steering wheel just a little bit made it turn quite a bit. It's as if someone put a turn amplifier on it. Somehow, I managed to get the truck into a parking lot. The truck was, however, smart enough to know how to not hit something. This struggle lasted for a little bit.
In a little while, I came across some security guards. The bad truck was headed for a fence. I made a sudden turn to avoid collision, but the truck was going quite fast. While headed toward the security guards, I was trying to slam on the brakes repeatedly but they didn't work. I started to yell out, "No brakes! No brakes!" After a short while, I found a traffic blockade and managed to turn into an empty parking lot. When I arrived there, and when the bad ol' truck stopped, I quickly shifted into park and turned the truck off so it wasn't a menace any more. To my surprise, the truck found a way to prevent me from getting out!
When I tried to open the door to get out of the crazy-minded truck, it was locked. Thankfully the truck had a manual window. The truck didn't have seatbelts either. I got up and started to climb out of the window after I rolled it down entirely. I managed to get out of the window, but, the mall was very far from anywhere I knew. I was in my native home city, but, I don't know where anything is around it, so I had to depend on street and avenue signs.
Trying to find street and avenue signs, I figured out where I was after about ten minutes of searching and gliding**. While gliding through what appeared to be a park, I came across what appeared to be the university in my home town. (Technically, to get from any of the two parks I know, you have to cross over some buildings, but it wasn't like this in my dream.)
At this university, there were some powerlines around everywhere. I glid around the university picking up speed. There were some roof workers watching me trying to shout, but I couldn't hear them well. Weird at it was, when I made two laps around the university at around 100 mph, I pulled up just before I impacted the powerlines. I somehow couldn't level out again while I went up, so I headed straight down,... head first. I watched the ground "grow" as I approached it at an accelerating rate. I landed softly, got back up, jumped several feet into the air and started to glide again to pick up speed. Fearing the powerlines around the area, I dove toward the ground while gliding to go right under the parking lot.
Past here, I was picking up speed watching trees "grow" as I approached them. I was headed right over some short trees. Past here, there were some bigger, taller trees and a shop to the left. Luckily, someone opened the door to the shop and I glide right through the doors at over 130 mph and still picking up speed. I had a lot of bad guys after me at this time. I abruptly stopped while I was halfway into the shop. A few moments later, some bad guys were coming in from the very entrance I came from. I raced toward the exit doors to escape. I jumped up, when I exitted the shop and started to glide again. Before initiating the glide, I used the flash attack to get a boost of gliding speed right away. I finally figured out a way to escape from it all.
Just when I exitted the shop, a bunch of crooks spotted me gliding above what is called "North Hill" in my home town. As a big surprise, they were starting to chase me while I was headed NNW. My home, from where I was at, was to the NNE. I felt that they were after me so I sort of "tricked" them. As I passed 200 mph, I got too close to the ground. I pulled up a little bit then leveled out losing 25% of my speed. Since I was headed for a military base, I had to turn toward another direction, mainly toward the west. Here, there were no bad guys around.
In order to get home, I accelerated toward the west, turned to head north, turned to head east, then south. Once, I had to pull up when I got rather close to the ground. I pulled up and got quite a height. I continued my route as expected. I arrived at home, but ended up in a nearby farmer's field. Because stopping from over 300 mph is tough, I pulled up, straight up to lose the speed that way. Doing this, I reduced my horizontal velocity to 0 to make it easy for precision landing, but I headed straight up. I climbed close to 80% of a mile high then dropped all the way back down. Yeah, I hit the ground at 300 mph, but it didn't hurt, just as it is in my mind game. I jumped up and glid the short distance toward my home and told one of my parents that something happened. I woke up at this point, so I don't know what happened.
It was quite a story, however, and it was fun, but a little scary when it came to the powerlines. I laughed when I managed to turn into the shop. That turn was very sharp and hard to accomplish. I made it to safety, however. I wonder what this dream means....
Notes on story: This was a story based purely on a somewhat bad dream I had. The actual events are about 94% accurate, which is almost in tact. The beginning part about the truck was a real event that happened in this dream as well as the security guards thing. The part about being lost trying to use street and avenue signs was actually forgotten on what happened here, so I used my mind game to enhance this part. The part about the college and powerlines was a real thing in the dream. Watching the trees "grow" as I approached them and the roof workers as well as being unable to level out after pulling up was all real in the dream. The shop, too, was an actual event. The baddies on the road was something enhanced in my mind game. The part after escaping from the shop about going around the military base was made up in my mind game, but the part about returning home was just modified. Instead of having just a little speed as it was in my dream (about 170 mph), I was going nearly double that. I did tell my parents about the strange truck event, but I woke up before I heard anything.
Footnotes:
* This is one of many strange dreams I've had. To read about them, read this.
** The glide ability is something used both in my mind game and stories. It allows constant acceleration at 5 mph per second to up to 800 mph top speed. It's almost like flying but utilizes gravity to pull you forward, not down. It becomes ineffective in mediums at 1.4 atmospheres [the density of the atmosphere at sea level times 1.4; drag can be entirely eliminated up to this density. This means that gliding will not work underwater effectively [the faster you go, the slower your deceleration is, again, limited to 800 mph.].
