2 Ice cream
It's cold, but a dedicated store!? That's new to me. I'm not much into ice cream, but a "small" is actually very big, around 6 to 8 scoops big. I didn't get anything as, well, ice cream isn't of much interest. I've had about 36 ice cream sandwiches before the trip and already lost interest in it and it may be a year or two before I return to it again. Blame it on active neutralization and a fairly low general compatibility with ice cream.

Photo #17-11: I didn't want it, but the others did. Sure that thermometer was showing 84°F, I didn't get any ice cream. It was both not appetizing, and my motive dropped. I'm resistant to heat so I can the 84°F quite well, unlike one that was with me.
3 White Bear Lake
If it weren't for that pesky law, I'd have very likely gone swimming. After labor day, life guards aren't there any more, and if they're not present, you can't swim. North Dakota, as far as I know, doesn't have this and that's what I'm used to. Still, there were some scenic areas.

Photo #17-12: Oh sure, I forgot to check the clock and I'm late calling someone. And wouldn't you know it, the pay phone ain't there! Pay phones are pretty much things for museums nowadays as cell phones are so common.

Photo #17-13: This is a nice area of the lake, and as stated in the intro, it's quite scenic. This is a view without any zoom. Too bad for that pesky law, otherwise swimming would've been nice.

Photo #17-14: Looking for a close-up? Here's the same area with 3x zoom, the limit of my camera (before unwanted digital zoom). Look at those trees way off in the distance there.

Photo #17-15: The sign on the left - boo-hoo. The sign on the right, yay! Blind? The sign on the left says "life guard off duty" - it's after labor day. The sign on the right says "no alcohol allowed in park" - it's dangerous and a poison.
4 Manitou Island
Islands are foreign to me. When I think of Islands, I think of pieces of land less than about a million square miles surrounded entirely by water out in the ocean. In this case, it's an island out in the middle of a lake, with a handy bridge to cross over to it. The island is mostly a bunch of houses - we just visited to look what was there.

Photo #17-16: This is the bridge used to cross over to Manitou Island (pronounced as "MAN ih toh"). The bridge and supposedly the whole island, is private property.
