What photos do you have of your 2008 vacation in Minneapolis, MN for September 17?

Last updated: Sep 28, 2008

Wednesday, September 17, 2008, was the day I went on the first of two road trips. Mom gave it as a surprise so we didn't have a map so, again, it was a lot more circles, loop-de-loops, and figure 8's along the highways. First it was going to Stillwater, MN, then heading across a bridge into Wisconsin. After a brief visit into Wisconsin, we returned and got ice cream at an ice cream shop, something not found in my area as far as I know. We then headed for White Bear Lake. There wasn't much there I could do (not even swim, even though I had my swim suit - pesky laws). Following that is going to see the Mississippi River, a place I wanted to go. I decided on it as I noticed from the Minnesota highway map that Minneapolis was right next to the river. Bubsy level 11 (and 10) also influenced it.

1 Wisconsin scenic views

Wisconsin is surprisingly close to Minneapolis so it was probably the main reason for going. It wasn't on my "list". There's a lot of scenic photos though.

My trip to MN - Stillwater Saint Croix River

Photo #17-1: The original 3072x2304 photo is crisp and clear, and is the best of all in this regard. This is in the town of Stillwater, MN, very close to the Wisconsin border.

Photo #17-2: This one isn't really all that exciting, but this is what you find in the area further east of Stillwater, within Wisconsin.

My trip to MN - Vast open 4-lane highways

Photo #17-3: Vast, open 4-lane highways. These are the kinds of roads I'm most familiar with. Traffic jams are pretty much foreign to me. Beyond 4 lanes is also foreign to me, though I did see some occasional 6-lane roads in the Minneapolis area.

My trip to MN - Very tall radio tower

Photo #17-4: Where's that radio at? Take that cassette outta there and turn on the radio! There's a radio tower over there, in case you didn't notice, and it's a tall one!

Photo #17-5: Pop quiz! What was that quotation I thought of during my YMCA camp days? This scenic view from high up should give a good, strong hint.

Photo #17-6: Give up? "High elevation is the best elevation. The higher, the better the view!" In that case, it applies here too. There's just so many photosynthesis factories running their course, far more than I'm used to seeing.

My trip to MN - Birds on a lilly-pad-filled lake

Photo #17-7: Want feathers, lots of feathers? How about feathers attached to the very things that use them? It's a bit tricky to see, but there's more than a dozen birds on the water in the background there. It's also somewhat scenic.

Photo #17-8: This was a unique angle into the trees, of which go off at a screwy diagonal. I just found this one interesting.

My trip to MN - Overpass walkway crossing the road

Photo #17-9: This overpass was a bit weird. I don't see where it's coming from or going to, nor even what it's for (a walk bridge is my guess), but I found it sort of interesting.

Photo #17-10: Regular golf was on my list (just 9 holes though, to try it), but I never got to play. This area was quite scenic though so I couldn't resist.
