What have you been up to in February of 2005?
1. Feb 2, 2005
Feb 2, 2005: The neighbor's dogs have done it again. This time, they killed one of my dogs, the brown one, so now I'm left with three dogs. Three new dreams have been added to the list. Also, I'm nearly complete with a round of editting for my script.
#1 Neighbor's dogs killed one of mine: Anywhere from 3:30 to about 5:10, the neighbor's dog, the one we've had trouble with for a long time (this is the fourth time they've caused trouble), has done it again, only this time, death was involved. My brown dog, the one so-called "brown thing" has died from the neighbor's dogs had died from the neighbor's dog attacking and jumping over the fence surrounding our yard.
#2 Three more dreams added: Two dreams recalled from one night is rare, let alone it being twice within a fairly short period of time. Today's dreams were the two others. Yesterday's dream was the third new addition, a mud dream. The new dreams are dreams 1-34, 2-21, and 5-38. I'm so close to getting five pages of travel dreams and I'd like to split this category into two: travel dreams (dreams that feature getting between point A and point B) and exploration dreams (where I explore new lands). This could mean a reworking of this category. Also, I need to merge a dream in category 2 (video game dreams) into dream 2-3 which is blank. One of the later dreams is likely to replace it.
#3 My script: Not quite yet. Though their service is rather friendly, their response time to E-mails is slower than a slow turtle. However, it's giving me some extra time to edit my story to make sure I get rid of errors and things that may still be in there. I'm almost to the area where my top favorite line is, the final battle.
#4 Game development: Maybe otherwise. The last update was saying that instead of making games, why not make movies instead? This concept works somewhat well, however, I can do both. I can have some stories going on for practice, especially with scripting, and develop my game at the same time. So, instead of just one of the two, I can do both.
#5 Mind game events: Some mind game events that I've been having is where I'm in Hawaii as if I was at a university there. Still, I have those special abilities and I tend to like bouncing and trying to make it hard to simply avoid going into the water. I've got an excellent scene of this that is well-remembered. If you've been with my website for a long time, you may recall that, long ago (like a year or two), I once played my mind game until I ran out of spell power. While I was playing my mind game, I was in this same basic area. Cliffs to the east and west, a slope going into rather bluish-looking water, a hut containing fairly deep mud about 20 feet from the beach, and the university far off in the distance. There are tons of trees and greenery everywhere you look, except where the ocean is. There was one case in which I found a croc-like monster. I just casted thunder on it to get rid of it. Another case I can remember from that long time playing my mind game (which was like 4 hours the most I've ever played it), I accidentally equipped the wrong ability and noticed that things weren't going as they should. I remember saying "Oh, not APS, Speed" and I found that funny. I remember another case in which I was developing my game and noticed that something wasn't making sense (an actual case, not in my mind game). I found that I used subtraction instead of addition. I said, if I recall correctly, "Oh not minus, add". Either that, or it was the other way around.

Feb 5, 2005: Three new dreams have been added and a new category for dream statistics has been added as well. Nothing else, however, has been going on worth noting.
#1 3 new dreams added: Three new dreams have been added making the count 157. The newest additions are dreams 1-35, 2-21, and 6-27. Also, because dream 2-3 in the old version was blank and had nothing about a dream, I replaced it with one that I believe was the recalled version of that dream. This means the dream count went down by one. Finally, an update to the dreams statistics was made so now you can tell how scary the dream was. I've also got two new categories coming in: fun dreams (mostly coming from the "other" category), and the travel dreams section is going to be broken up into two categories: travel and exploration.
3. Feb 11, 2005
Feb 11, 2005: Five new dreams have been added making the count 162 and a new dreams category has been created. The concept of my game has changed and a new insight into my old imaginary friends is in progress. Nothing new has really happened worth telling.
#1 Five new dreams plus new category: It's been thought of for quite some time now: a new category for the dreams page. Fun dreams make up the new category. Also, five new dreams have been added. These new dreams are: 3-23, 6-23, 6-24, 7-12, and 7-14. 7-13 is skipped because it was moved from another category. Category 8, the fun dreams, doesn't have anything new in there, just dreams that have been moved.
#2 Game development - concept change: Long ago, such as 1992 or so, I had this one game I played as a child that I made up. I called it "George Game 13". It's where you go rescue someone named George jumping between various objects in the house with my hand. This concept is MUCH simpler (put lots of stress on that) than what I had before. I've made the tutorial level so far. As a side note, my old project hasn't been deleted, I still have it as I may use some things from it. Replicating my mind game is going to be extremely difficult as it's way too complex. However, some of the special moves, such as gliding, 90-foot jumps, etc. is going to be implemented anyway. This game will have a lot more action in it as well and maybe the same idea for high speeds. The rendering rate, however, I don't know. My old project was getting 12 fps on my Radeon 7000 and as low as 7 fps. My new project is much faster (well, I don't have all the details and stuff. I'm even thinking of creating a debug system sort of like what Sonic has, but with much more freedom. Yes, you can create your own levels however you want. You can choose between like 20-some worlds including the desert, on a ship, the mountains, the prairie, the city, etc. with probably 50 levels in each world (that's 1000 total levels). The levels are quick and easy to make. I may only need like 15 minutes per level or so. Making the objects initially takes a lot more time. This new idea looks much more promising and still without those annoying limitations as most games have. So far, to this point, I've worked on creating the water. Water comes in four colors: blue, blue-green, green with swamp effects, and very clear.
#3 Imaginary friends anyone?: Long ago, starting around 1990 or so, I had a bunch of imaginary friends. Although the document isn't available yet (though it is close), it'll give a deeper look into my imaginary friends to the best of my knowledge. I had 11 as far as I can recall.

Feb 15, 2005: Major progress made with the new project. My query letter for my script is about to go again. Also, no new dreams have been added.
#1 Game development: The old project has been abandoned. Now, I've got a new project that is much easier to make (and put lots of emphasis on "much"). The details about it are in category 9. Boy, even with a rather simple level, I can't get much above 20 fps. I definitely need an upgraded graphics card. Today's cards would be able to process my level at 200 fps plus! I'll be looking into Newegg.com for details on good graphics cards. I prefer ATI over Nvidia, but I don't care too much about what I get.
#2 My script: I'm very close to getting my query letter out there again. Boy, this new version, with some help, sounds much better than the original one I had sent. I really like the service that I found, they're very friendly. In fact, their compatibility has now shot up over 800, something rather rare as it's 6.25 times better than neutral. It might be two or three more days before I get my E-mail's inbox bogged up with replies.
#3 No new dreams have been added: Strange how I couldn't recall any of the night's dreams from the last update. I had a few cases in which I recalled two dreams from one night just in the last 2 or 3 weeks! Now all of a sudden I can't recall any? Weird. In other words, the count remains at 162.
#4 AVG issues: I'm having some problems with AVG. Whenever it calls the scheduler to run a virus scan, my system becomes very unstable and causes errors all the time until the computer is restarted. Their service won't let you send them an E-mail about the bug unless you have a paid version. I'm about ready to put Norton back on. Afterall, it seemed a better virus scanner. Memory is no longer an issue as I've got 512 MB.
#5 Testing testing: Hmm. That new TV I got is horrible when it comes to extracting songs. I just did a comparison with Out Where the Lake Is, my top favorite song of all time, and the results are more disappointing. Although I can get the best part to be a bit more audible, there's a lot of excess noise causing an irritating 17 KHz frequency hiss at true speed (frequency is estimated). I should almost just use my old TV for both Satellite and video games. The display picture on my old TV is much better as it is anyway. I hate cheap used stuff.

Feb 21, 2005: Here we go again.... The graphics card I just got doesn't work so I'm back at sending the merchandise back to the company. The query letter for my script is going to be resent as it has now been finalized. Also, I've added something about drowning Tails in Carnival Night Zone Act 2. One new dream has been added as well.
#1 Here we go again - new graphics card: The top headline from the last 6 days occurred just today. I got a new graphics card for my computer with a 500 MHz core speed, 600 MHz memory clock speed, and 128 MB memory. This was the fastest card I could find within the budget. However, even this $127 card doesn't work. It was the same with my monitor. If you remember from previous articles about having to return a faulty monitor, you should know how I feel. This is already one attempt at it.... I hope I don't end up with the same problems as I did with the monitor. I'm back to using my old graphics card....
#2 My script: The query letters are going to be sent out again on, I think, the 24th (a Thursday if I recall correctly). This is three days from this update. I'll let you know how well it goes when it gets sent out.
#3 Drowning Tails on Sonic 3 and Knuckles: It's an obsession I have: to drown Tails in the classic Sonic games in the blue water. I've designed a small area in which you can drown Tails. I've tested it and made sure of it. You can find it in category 10. This makes good use of the debug code.
#4 One new dream added: It's been a while since I added a dream. The new dream was quite a bit of fun and 88% in tact (I haven't had a dream more than 80% in tact in quite some time). The new dream is 5-38. This makes the dream count 163. This dream is rare in one sense: it spans three different categories: water, travel, and video game.
#5 Game development: I've added a sky using an old cloud scene I made a long while ago. I've also wrote the entire design document, the plan for the game. The game turns out to be simpler than I thought. 21 worlds have been thought of so far which meets my goals. For 50 levels in each world, that's 1050 levels! 1000 levels is my other goal. So far, it seems to be working out quite well.
