Climbing mountains and high speed movement are a thrill in my mind game.
What do the menus look like in your mind game?

1 Menu screen basics
The menu screen is rarely looked at or used, however, it's mainly used today for checking some stats (such as those from my Status System of which is nearly abandoned). It has been almost otherwise abandonded. The menu screen is easy to navigate through.

This is what the menu screen looks like. To explain what each area is in detail, here's the list from top to bottom, left to right:
2 The menu items
2.1 Main menu
Main menu: This is the overall layout and the first thing you see when you call the menu screen. The top left is where the leader of the party is. In a small square is a portrait of the character and what he/she looks like. To the right of that are the basics and most vital stats (except SP, unless lots of spells or special abilities are used, and LVL): HP (hit points), SP (spell power), and LV (level), is always shown along with the name. The light blue arrow (of the color 8080FF, or ######) is like a cursor, it points to what is selected. When choosing a character, the entire dark gray part of the banner becomes like this exact color except the area where the character's image is located. When something else needs to be selected on the same part of the menu, the arrow or highlight flashes rapidly (or, in my still images, becomes half transparent).
2.2 Item
The item menu is used to choose from the items in stock for use for something. Items are usually stored inside the chest as critically compressed. Since matter is almost entirely empty space compression is very strong. If I'm short on something, I just duplicate an item or, if I don't have it, a create spell takes care of that.
2.3 Spell
If I'd like to cast a spell, I'd use this. Spells are very rarely used in my mind game as it is, though I do use them.
2.4 Ability
If I'd like to use a special ability or some other use-only ability, I'd go here. These aren't of the usual special abilities like jump 50 or the float run, these are other special abilities. This menu is almost never used.
2.5 Action
At a store, you usually have to pay for something, unless, of course, you didn't get anything. Usually, much of what is in here is done in an instant and thus this menu is never really used much.
2.6 Status
Wanna check the stats or equip abilities for learning and use? The status menu allows just that. This menu isn't used much either, but it's used much more than the others.
2.7 Event
Wanna set up an event in which, say, a UFO landed with unfriendly aliens or to have an Olympic-size race spanning all of Scotland? Events are set up in here. Though events aren't set up that often, I don't use the menus for it.
2.8 Search
With the search option, it is easy to search the world for a place of interest. It can also be used to search for a configuration option as well or something else in the menus. It's very rarely used.
2.9 Map
Like the map on the main view, this has the same properties, except it covers a 60x45° area rather than a tiny 6x4.5° area. The map is one of my favorite things to use although it's not used as much. Of all menu items on the main menu, this is used the most often. Here's a view on what the map sort of looks like:
This is a view of the interior of a school when classes are going on, a middle school in particular. This is the 1:2 zoom setting, one pixel is 2 inches. Magenta lines mark the boundaries of walls, blue objects are small objects of sufficient size in which access above or below them is easy (such as desks), and the colored dots represent if someone is good or evil. Yellow is neutral, green and white are good, red and black are evil. This image gives the full spectrum where the left side is the evil side and the right side is the good side. It contains all possible shades, 1021 of them.

The red, fading dot is actually at true speed (one fade cycle every three seconds using the fastest possible with animated GIFs) and it marks where you're located.
From this, you can tell that there's another hallway through the walls to the east and another to the west and you can also see the desks, students, teachers, even the office! By being able to tell evil from good, it is easy to find a few bullies in there too (the southwesternmost room is the worst bully). You could almost tell what the teachers are doing and which classes have missing students (whether from being absent or the class isn't filled up). There are plenty of filters. Being good or evil doesn't have much effect on the compatibility toward him/her. The map is so comprehensive, it could even be configured to mark where water pipes are, where coins may be hidden, etc.. Maps are handy, though this map is dynamic - it changes in real time based on conditions and speed of movement. If you were seeing this in my mind game, I'd be standing still. If I was moving at 3 mph, a typical walking speed, the map would scroll about 26.4 pixels per second, seemingly quite substantial for such a slow speed. By zooming out to the 1:4 zoom setting, you'll see much of the school's layout and maybe even the boundaries of outside buildings.
The zooming rules are simple. If something "shrinks" to less than a tenth of a degree on any side, walls, mountains, or anything will not display. At this setting, because a penny is only 3/4 of an inch in diameter, and if each pixel was a tenth of a degree the pennies couldn't be seen, although it can be configured to display them anyway. I usually use the tenth-degree rule instead as it doesn't "clutter" the map that way. Plus, the "resolution" in my mind game is much higher. This map here would almost be the equivelent of an 1:8 zoom to my real map if your monitor uses 96 dpi and the image area covers 15 degrees of your field of view and from about 27 inches away. That is, imagine extending this map out to being 30° out on each side of your forward position. Normally, at the 1:2 zoom, I could see the entire school and some of the other buildings outside it. This is just used as an example, however.
2.10 Config
Set up configurations. They can be of game mechanics or menu colors and the such. This menu is almost never used.
2.11 Switch
Switches the order of the characters as displayed on the main menu. It is used, but not much, the third most used I'd say.
3 Menu usage
Almost everything is done in an instant without using the menus. Some of the menus haven't been used since late 2003. Basically, here's a chart on how frequent each is used on a scale from 0 to 8 with 0 being not used at all. The number on the left is how often it is used from in the menu and the number on the right is how often it is used in the normal fashion.
| menu | usage (menu/no menu)* | menu | usage (menu/no menu)* | menu | usage (menu/no menu)* |
| Item | 0/1 | Status | 3/X** | Config | 0/1 |
| Spell | 0/1 | Event | 0/8 | Switch | 0/0.5 |
| Ability | 0/1 | Search | 0/0.5 |
| Action | 0/2 | Map | 4/X** |
Table footnotes:
* Usage is based on usage during the last year from the best of my knowledge. The left side is the usage from in the menu and the right side is usage in normal means without it.
** Status and map can only be accessed through the menu.

Footnotes:
* Spells are special abilities that have various effects. You can see the complete list of common spells as well as their effects and individual details here.
** Equipping abilities is setting special use-only or equip-only abilities for use. This is explained in better detail here.
*** Hit points [HP] is the life force of a living thing. Spell power [SP] is the amount of energy available for use of special abilities. Level [LVL] is how much experience you have accumulated. For more info, read section 2 for HP and SP and section 3 for level.
† A multi-slot ability is a special ability that takes more than 1 equip slot, more commonly known as a special ability, the only kind that can take more than one slot. For more information, see this page for details on equipping abilities, and section 2 here for details on special abilities.
‡ Color codes are like those used in HTML color naming. For more details on how to identify that color in detail, see this page for details.
†† Googol as well as all number names from the millions and billions you know to the centillions and beyond are described in the "large numbers" section of the FAQ page at the bottom.
‡† Knuckles is one of my 3 guardian spirits. You can learn more information about him here.
†‡ Background scaling is more of a 2D video game term. If you move, say, 60 units in one direction, the background will move 1 unit in the opposite direction. This is noted as a 60-scale. My videos of my mind game has this, a lot of this but with much greater scalings. I typically have 600 for the mountains and 150 [or 75] for the hills. The mountains, at 600 mph, move one "pixel" every frame [at 60 frames per second].
