What are your video game dreams?
On certain occasions, I get dreams that are like a video game in their nature. Since I was four, I've been at playing video games. I still do today, but less than 1/5 of the hourage as I used to. Occasionally, I get a dream based on a video game, often one that I've played in excess from long ago. Zeliard, Bubsy, and Metroid are commonly focused in these dreams. These dreams are like video games by the way they look and feel. Very often, they are well-forgotten.
Noteworthy dreams in this category:
2-5: I wished this dream would repeat once more as I liked it a lot. It's well-forgotten.
2-9: This dream I find unusual by its nature and I don't understand how I ended up getting this one.
2-11: This dream forecasted the future. Two weeks after the dream occurred, I got views just like the dream showed me.
2-12: I would like to make this dream into an actual game.
2-18: This is the oldest recalled dream to date clear back to 1992 or 1993!
2-19: I wished this dream would repeat once more as I liked it a lot.
2-24: This dream led to the concept and idea for George Game 13, my high-speed do-anything 3D platform game.
2-32: I think this dream occurred more than once.
2-46: This dream suggested a method for the clouds in my first 2D game as, at the time, I was stumped on how to do them.
2-97: This dream is very well-liked and wished I could get a repeat of it.
2-102: I wished that this game was a real game.
2-105: I wished that the game at the end of the dream was a real game. It's also well-liked and I wished it would repeat.
Dream 2-41: Replaying Jumping Flash

Although much forgotten, I can recall two parts. The first was of a shooter game that I didn't like. I tried to exit the game and play a less violent game but the game someone else tried to get me to play was stubborn and didn't want to exit. It took 3 tries to exit and from there, I started up the original Jumping Flash game. I took a while to activate the level select code - two tries. I access world 1-3 as part of a cheat code and play it. I recall that, when the dragon flew up, I was bouncing on it like crazy and once lande on it as if I landed on the ground (no bouncing). I, halfway defeated the boss and the dream ended. I seemed to have a group of about 3 with me based on the laughing sounds when all were laughing.
Dream 2-42: Bubsy and glide-hopping
Occurred on Dec 9, 2005; general - 5??; nature - 5.5??; story - X; scenery - 6?; fun - 7??; scary - 0; weird - 1; imagery - 10% in tact!; dream - 4% in tact!
I'm playing a Bubsy game. I'm having to go to my sister's place (about 1 1/4 miles west) and continuing play in there. Then, supposedly, I was going on a trip. I don't recall anything about this trip though. The last part I recall is playing the Bubsy game glide-hopping on enemies for intense height. Someone in the background repeatedly tells me to stop pausing the game a lot, but I ignore as that's a common way to cheat in games, especially useful with classic 2D games.
Dream 2-43: Brick busting Mario/Sonic game
Occurred on Dec 27, 2005; general - 6?; nature - 6?; story - 4??; scenery - 3?; fun - 6.5?; scary - 2; weird - 1?; imagery - 12% in tact; dream - 8% in tact
I recall some sort of very unstable rock formations and lots of quakes in some video game-like setting. It was a classic 2D side scrooler with a black background and very cheap textures sort of like an NES game. It seemed to be like Mario with the brick-busting and graphics style, but also like Sonic in terms of the rest of the game play (acceleration and moving around (except running jumps). One area that I recall is where I'm busting these reddish-gray bricks to get into a secret area and it was tricky to do it just right. The bricks were broken much like you do in the classic mario - just jump up into them and they break. They even disappear in the same way although there was an odd glitch leaving a lone brick that otherwise would've broken. I manage to get on it and break more bricks up above, but this scene is vaguely recalled after this point.
In the second part of the dream, I recall taking a bath. Mom went into the bathroom dressed for work asking if the water was too cold. I said that I just got in. This scene is very vaguely recalled, however, but nothing bad happened.
Dream 2-44: Nintendo classic shooter game

I only recall two parts of this dream. One of which is where I'm collecting some object to gain more power. If I collect 5, 6 zig-zagging bullets are fired at once. This game is a classic 2D game very much like the NES era, but with a 16-bit palette or so rather than the 4-bit palette. In this game, the view always scrolls along from top to bottom at roughly 20 pixels every second (or one pixel every 3 game frames). I once collect 13 of those objects causing 14 zig-zagging bullets to be fired at once making me almost immune to enemies as, with repeated firing, the enemies would take a big hit. The bullets were 8x8-pixel objects and the moved from left to right covering a 64-pixel-wide area (a fifth of the screen's width). I do recall some other powerup, a common one, but don't know it's function. The bullet powerup was a dark gray metallic circular thing (like a sphere with only the top 20% visible in terms on how it looked). This object was a 32x32-pixel object. Games those days ran in 320x240 resolution and the "game" depicted in my dream runs in a resolution similar to this. I don't recall anything else though.
Dream 2-45: The pinball arcade game
Occurred in early 2004; general - 6??; nature - 6?; story - 5???; scenery - 6.5?; fun - 7??; scary - 1??; weird - 2??; imagery - 30% in tact; dream - 12% in tact
Although not much is recalled, all I can recall is that I was hiding in a secret area in some arcade during the night. I had a sleeping area, which was very dimly lit, placed about 8 feet from the floor. Below my area was a pinball machine. I loved the pinball game and I often played it in secret, even when I was not supposed to. The sleeping area is kind of like a spaceship in some way. The sides all around it were of 1-way fabric where I could see out, but no one could see in. I used this to monitor the scene so I could play that pinball game.
Dream 2-46: My sister and my 2D game
Occurred on Feb 16, 2006; general - 6.5; nature - 7; story - 5.5??; scenery - 4; fun - 5.5?; scary - 0?; weird - 2?; imagery - 25% in tact; dream - 8% in tact
My sister doesn't like the kind of games I made or I'm interested in so I wonder why this dream depicts her playing one of them. From what I can recall, my sister plays an old version of it. The version she plays is one I actually didn't make, yet anyway (at the time of posting the dream). It was supposedly a beta version. She first played it on her computer, then on my dad's computer. She only just jumped around and glid around. The background had 4-channel fog (the current game has 54 channels for the fog, 18 for free edition), mist-like clouds, but not the mountains, city, or any of the other objects in the background scenery. In certain areas and positions, the way the clouds looked was spectacular. My sister ran into 2 bugs. One of which was where the ground disappears when past a certain position, about 8 million coordinate units. I don't recall the other one though. I've mentioned to my sister many times (four I think), that she's using an old version and I asked her of the latest version and if she'd be interested in it or not. She never wanted to play the latest version. I mainly just watched checking for any odd things happening to take note of potential bugs. I don't recall anything else.
Note: I made use of the concept depicted in this dream for my real 2D game and it works very well. I even nearly replicated what I saw in this dream with great accuracy!
Dream 2-47: Spyro super jump
Occurred on Mar 1, 2006; general - 7; nature - 8.8!; story - 5.5?; scenery - 6.5; fun - 7.5; scary - 1; weird - 1; imagery - 40% in tact; dream - 60% in tact
As far as I can recall, this is the first dream involving Spyro the Dragon. I'm playing a Spyro-like game, but not in the style the original Spyro games are. I activated a cheat code to allow for super high jumps, 20 times higher than a normal jump. This cheat code made the game a lot more fun as I often jump around on things trying to get to the highest points I can. The worlds depicted in this dream are about 30 times larger by area than those in Spyro: Ripto's Rage and the graphics in the first recalled work are almost life-like (better than that in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly) while those of the second world were more like that of Spyro: Ripto's Rage, at least in terms of the fog anyway.
The first world that I recall was more of a scene in which there are many mountains or high hills with scattered lakes. All I had to do was find the place where the boss is to proceed. You battled the boss in the boss room, of which was still at least twice as big (by area) than the levels in Ripto's Rage. I don't recall the only boss world I visitted or even what the setting was, but I had a feel for the size of it.
The next world was a desert-like world with tall structures built into a high cliff (as Native Americans did in the desert area about a millenia ago). The structures were almost like modern buildings only they looked highly damaged. At the start of the world, a high-speed flyby was done that took even 30 seconds to whiz by (at about 150 mph on average from what I can tell). This world was my favorite world right away as, not only could I get up very high, it also had good music, of which I don't recall a single note of. It took 5 super jumps to reach the highest point which would normally take 95 or so regular jumps to do. At the highest point I got to right away, after 5 super jumps (6 technically), I could see the "squares" from the ground fog from up here. I recall seeing small pyramids and palm trees looking down. Just before the dream ended, I made another super jump and began a very long glide to reach another building. I barely make it with 2 regular jumps of height to spare). 2 or 3 seconds after landing, the dream ends.

To explain what I mean by classic fog and how it was in Spyro: Ripto's Rage, or at least the design, I made this simple 5-frame animation to do so:

Dream 2-48: A close call in classic Metroid
Occurred on Mar 13, 2006; general - 4??; nature - 3???; story - 5.5???; scenery - 3?; fun - 6??; scary - 4?; weird - 3?; imagery - 15% in tact; dream - 6% in tact
I'm playing the original Metroid (from the NES game). Although very vaguely recalled, from the beginning, starting from the area where you go up, I struggle to keep the EN value (supposedly hit points or health, not sure what "EN" stands for) above zero. I get into the area with the lave below, of which I've constantly had beeping sounds from the EN value being 16 or less. One case I recall is EN being at 3 (right next to dead) with one of those yellow spiny things about to hit me along with the blue claw-like thing. Either I got hit (which would cause death), or I go into the yellow lava below. I went into the lava and had EN at just one. I manage to barely make it through to the big tank-like object with an E on it which restores the EN value instead and adds 100 to the maximum through adding another square. After that, the dream ended. When I first started getting the beeping sound, I recall someone saying that they recognize the sound coming from the classic Metroid game. I don't recall anything else.
Dream 2-49: Shadow fighters
Occurred on Mar 15, 2006; general - 5??; nature - 5.5?; story - 6.5???; scenery - 3.5?; fun - 6??; scary - 4?; weird - 4??; imagery - 25% in tact; dream - 15% in tact
Although not strongly recalled, I cannot tell if this was a video game dream or just a weird dream, but it seems to have a video game-like nature. In this "game", I went through some corridors and small rooms where I battled shadows or shadow monsters of some kind. There were supposedly 8 shadow monsters or 8 levels. The levels were fairly short, lasting usually 10 minutes. I went through each room to find the shadow monster, of which had different colors. I recall red, white, and black for sure, possibly with blue and orange as additional possibilities. White was the second-hardest and black was the hardest of them all. I battled at least 4 shadow monsters for sure, possibly a fifth one. I supposedly had friends in the hallway that connected the corridors with the shadow monsters (functioning as a level select). I got all the way to the final shadow monster (didn't enter the room yet, but just took out the white one, the second-strongest) when the dream ended. I was anxious about how strong the black shadow monster was at this time.
The scenery was quite bare and dull, but the lighting was pretty good. There were a few tables, chests, and a few desks scattered around, and of course the shadow monster, a half-transparent shadow. The carpets used in all rooms and the hallways were all of a medium brown (or A05028) with a light gray ceiling (about D0D0D0) and medium-light gray walls (about A0A0A0). I don't recall anything else.
Dream 2-50: High-speed action/adventure game with flame powerups
Occurred on Mar 20, 2006; general - 8!; nature - 8.5!; story - 7?; scenery - 7.5; fun - 8!; scary - 1; weird - 1; imagery - 65% in tact; dream - 40% in tact
I'm playing an action game. In it, I recall going super fast. There was a slope near the start of my favorite level. At the bottom of the downward slope was a small shallow pool of mud. I recall a bed sliding down the slopes landing in the mud about a foot deep. I also recall jumping on the bed while it was in the mud. There was a big group of crates and boxes halfway through. One powerup I recall, a sparkle-like object, gave invincibility. When I grabbed it, I went looking for enemies to bust as, when I simply touched them, they'd get destroyed. I recall being in this area twice and surrounding this area was a pool of water, of which I avoided. Scattered through the level are special slots, which seem to be like a fire of some sort with two narrow square pyramids spaced twice as far apart as the character is wide. These special slots gave a special ability of some kind, sort of like how Spyro 2 has it for its powerups. One cave I visitted, of which had dark blue-green walls (about 002840 or ######) had a dark green flame. It was otherwise inaccessible without a tricky jump. I recall that I could use the red and orange ones. I also recall an area at the top around where the curved path is with the slope. Up here, I could see everything very well. There were more crates here as well, but don't recall what was in them. Another one of those flame powerups was here as well. I do recall other levels, but this one was the best, the biggest, and most played. All I recall doing mainly is running around at high speed, and jumping around a lot getting into otherwise inaccessible places.
