What are your video game dreams?

On certain occasions, I get dreams that are like a video game in their nature. Since I was four, I've been at playing video games. I still do today, but less than 1/5 of the hourage as I used to. Occasionally, I get a dream based on a video game, often one that I've played in excess from long ago. Zeliard, Bubsy, and Metroid are commonly focused in these dreams. These dreams are like video games by the way they look and feel. Very often, they are well-forgotten.

Noteworthy dreams in this category:
2-5: I wished this dream would repeat once more as I liked it a lot. It's well-forgotten.
2-9: This dream I find unusual by its nature and I don't understand how I ended up getting this one.
2-11: This dream forecasted the future. Two weeks after the dream occurred, I got views just like the dream showed me.
2-12: I would like to make this dream into an actual game.
2-18: This is the oldest recalled dream to date clear back to 1992 or 1993!
2-19: I wished this dream would repeat once more as I liked it a lot.
2-24: This dream led to the concept and idea for George Game 13, my high-speed do-anything 3D platform game.
2-32: I think this dream occurred more than once.
2-46: This dream suggested a method for the clouds in my first 2D game as, at the time, I was stumped on how to do them.
2-97: This dream is very well-liked and wished I could get a repeat of it.
2-102: I wished that this game was a real game.
2-105: I wished that the game at the end of the dream was a real game. It's also well-liked and I wished it would repeat.

Dream 2-11: Bubsy 3D debug mode

Bubsy 3D is one of my favorite games as you can get up really high and it's a good challenge to getting up that high. I like watching the ground fog away. From playing the classic Sonic games starting since I got them in, I think, late 2003, I've always liked using the debug code so this dream made a debug code out of Bubsy 3D. In this dream, I somehow unlocked debug mode with Bubsy 3D in a similar way as classic Sonic games have. That is, press a certain button, your character turns into an item (like a platform). You use the directional buttons to move around and place your object, then press another button to place it. You can cycle through your items with another button. In this dream, I was creating a lot of platforms which took you up very high, so high that the ground disappears. Strange as it was, about a week later or so, I did, indeed, get up very high (where the ground completely disappears) with a bug I found in level 2, but I don't know of any debug mode system, yet that is.

Recalled scenes:
1. I'm in debug mode where I'm a platform. I'm spacing the platforms so Bubsy can eventually climb up very high. I made Bubsy jump up onto these platforms. When I reached the top, I jumped repeatedly looking at the almost-disappeared ground below. It was a nice view, but I wanted to go higher so I added more of those platforms.
2. I'm in the corner of the level on the outside mountains which have an orange top (this is actually true in the game as I've been on the tops of those mountains many times). I'm debugging (placing) platforms there to raise up and watch the mountains disappear.

Edit (on Feb 24, 2007) -

Bubsy 3D - far above the mountain tops

This screenshot from the actual game very strongly mimics what I saw in this dream. The only difference from this screenshot and the dream is that the scene was more monotonic and there were platforns on the bottom and left areas.

Dream 2-12: A planetary exploration game

Since elementary school, I've been long interested in space and the planets. Nowadays, I'm more interested in the cosmos in general. In this dream, I was playing a tough video game. In this game, which was like a standard 2D scroller, you had to find Earth going through various worlds. I only know of two of the worlds in this dream. One of them took you just a few miles above the Sun's surface. If you fell by not making the platforms, you'd fry in an instant. I felt very scared while doing this level. I made it through this level without dying from falling down too low.

Another level I could recall was Pluto. You were in a space ship, got out with that special space suit, and started to search around. One false move and you freeze in an instant. With all those very sharp spikes of ice, you had to be very careful.

I think that there was a Mercury level as well, but I don't remember. There might've been a Saturn level too.

This, indeed, was a very difficult game by the way it looked. It may have seemed like I've been playing this game for several months, which is why I was doing so good.

Dream 2-13: The WD's and green slime

I like games in which you can freely explore things, however, this game dream isn't like that, though it is a bit close. This dream is a rarity as it resembles many of the modern video games. Though some of it has been forgotten, there are three main parts of it that I can still recall. First, I can recall a train scene in which I was riding on a train, which appeared to be going around 50 to 60 mph (typical for standard trains as far as I can tell). There was a conversation going on between the "characters" of the game. Eventually, the train stopped and reached a building that had some plants and stuff growing on it (as the texture showed). I forgot what happened from here.

The second thing I can recall is having to collect "WD" objects that were lying around. Collect all of them in a single level and you get a reward. If I recall correctly, there were 24 of these in this building. I went out seeking them and got all but two (or was it one?). I had trouble finding the last one (as I usually do in real video games). I searched all over in any way I could and eventually found a new area I didn't know about. In this area, there were huge, deep pools of a greenish substance. A few seconds later, I found the last "WD" object. It was at the end of a moving platform that swung back and forth over this green stuff. I remember that I got down on my knees and started crawling across the platform. Slowly but surely I reached the final "WD" but nothing seemed to happen other than a window appearing saying that I got 24/24 of the WD's and "congratulations" above this in a font size four times larger (not much of a reward, is it?).

The third thing, and perhaps the scariest, was when I let my sister play the game. I remember saying "here, you try this out" or something close to that. In this case, my sister deliberately jumped into the green stuff. The character could no longer move and sunk into it until about 4 feet in. The character lost about 178 or so hit points (it's very close to 180 with 100% certainty). I can recall what the health meter thing looked like. It sort of resembles that of Metroid (the classic NES game with the squares representing 100 units, but this game showed, I think, 9 squares). I remember 2 squares depleting and the numerical value raising by about 20. Not only did my sister do this once, she did it again like two or three times nearly killing the guy. Each time you went into the green, sticky, gooey slime and sunk to the maximum depth (4 feet), the character would instantly appear a few feet away and flashing. This was quite scary.

Dream 2-14: Zeliard remake #4

I was playing the final caverns of Zeliard (as by the coloring and patterns, but they didn't look one bit close to it). In this dream, I was trying to figure out what to do. All I remember was seeing a few boxes. I don't know what happened in this dream, however.

Likely to be replaced with dream 2-3 due to the fact that this may have been what it once was supposed to be.

I was just finishing up the game in the final caverns. This version of the dream had Zeliard much like the more "modern" 2D scroller games as in Sonic 3. I can't remember if there was any 3D involved or not, however. I don't recall any backgrounds either, except the color black. In this dream, it was as if I was trying to escape from something. I raced my way back.

Dream 2-16: Monsters in a cave

This dream also was like that of modern video games, well, somewhat modern as the colors seem to be that of the 16-bit palette (65,536 colors). I was playing a game and needed to find my way through a cave. At some point inside the cave, I saw a bunch of monsters that had plum-colored gum-like "skin" and were just plain weird looking. The style seemed much like a video game. I don't know, however, what else happened in the dream. I only have this scene remembered from it.

Dream 2-17: The incoming meteors

This dream was much like that of a modern game, but it looked so real that I couldn't tell if it was modern or otherwise. In this dream, I was out in an open range where the sun's light was orange in color. I just exit a building into this area and there was a fence there. I was also with two others. In this case, I figured out the fence and escaped from the building. However, I also saw a whole bunch of meteors streaking across the sky. I sensed a big one coming so I had to quickly return to the building, but that was very hard. I found a swinging rope so I used it to gain some momentum. I finally managed to glide back and take cover inside the building. Indeed, later on, I saw the meteors coming, the big one. I don't remember much what else happened in this dream though.

Dream 2-18: The video game job

As of Nov 6, 2005, this is the oldest dream on record and it's basically where I have a job playing video games. This was a dream in which I was getting paid just to play video games. Though, due to the age of the dream, I have, like, one scene recalled from it. This scene is where a group is playing a video game and I was speaking with my boss. Back then, when this dream likely occurred, I wasn't even a teenager. I don't have a clue what it's like to have a job, even now. Yet, there is such a job that really exists in a similar way as this dream was like. It's called "testing". It's where you play the game to break it, which is practically what I do in almost any game. I play the game to find bugs and boy I do find quite a few. I think that I haven't played a single game without having detected a bug yet or abnormality that doesn't seem right (challenges and game secrets aren't included). 90% of the games I've played have a bug that went undetected during the normal testing phase. Some games, like Sonic [both classic and modern] have more than a dozen bugs or weird things that I've detected and still climbing with the classics. Today I'd like to become a video game tester, but how to apply, that's the problem.

Dream 2-19: A massive height Final Fantasy game

Starting in, I think, mid or late 2003, I've been at the Final Fantasy games. Although only Final Fantasy 7 has been completed as well as FF1 in Final Fantasy Origins, these games aren't of that much interest except the battles. This dream features something like the Final Fantasy games, except much different. It's related to the Final Fantasy games as you entered battle in a similar way. This dream has been forgotten, but I can recall a few things from it. The first is being inside a red-lit area inside a house as if by a fireplace or dim light. A second is that of being outside where I find a glitch in a game in which you can get up extremely high with. On the outside of the house, I manage to climb clear up to the top of a tree which is very high. I remember that I jumped from the ground and somehow got on the roof of the house. I jumped again using the same glitch and I land on a maple leaf of a tree. I keep on repeating this climbing up higher and higher into the tree watching the ground fog away below.

When I discovered this, I told an old friend about this strange glitch. I don't remember if he came, however, it's probably because the dream ended at this point.

Dream 2-20: A secret in Hydrocity Zone Act 2

Occurred on Feb 2, 2005; general - 5; nature - 8!; story - 5?; scenery - 5.5; fun - 6; scary - 0; weird - 2; imagery - 20% in tact; dream - 20% in tact

This is another one of those secret passages dreams, only this time with a video game. Unfortunately, the storyline has been forgotten, but I remember how I got into this secret area. I was exploring the areas at the bottom of the water with Hyper Sonic and I soon saw a strange area that took you way down. Hyper Sonic can't drown so I had little worry about that. There were little ledges on the sides to help you down, but I just jumped down and sped up as it was faster. At the bottom, I went up again and soon reached the surface of the water. Tails came flying down and the strange thing is that I was wondering what these little hexagonal things were in here. They were the chaos emeralds. I ditched Tails in the water in hopes of letting it drown as I usually do and then I explored this area. There were plenty of rings all around so I collected them to keep Hyper Sonic lasting longer. I checked the game clock and I was over 9 minutes meaning the clock was about to take Sonic's like away (Hyper Sonic is still not immune to the clock ya know). I grabbed about 3 or 4 chaos emeralds that were in this secret area. I can also recall entering debug mode and checking the coordinates. I remember seeing something like 76000A00 or something around that which means I was very far to the right. There is no level that extends further right than 70000000 except the final boss part of the death egg zone where you have the falling platforms on the left side. I don't recall much else about this dream.
