A replicated animated scene from one of my top favorite mud dreams.
What are your mud dreams?
These dreams are rather weird to most. As far as I can tell, the earliest of my mud dreams was back in the year 2000 or possibly 1999. While I watching a show on TV during around 1998 or 1999 or something, I was seeing a bunch of humans standing in waist-deep mud handing sandbags between each other. Later on, when I wrote "The Story of the Wonderful Adventure", the second episode, it featured a huge flood of mud just like this. In my very first version of "Rise of Atlantis" (now known as "The Legend of the 10 Elemental Masters"), during the Mount Everest part, there was a bit of mud walking as well. I think from here on is when I started having frequent mud dreams. It was the unusually high amount of mud dreams that I was getting that caused my dream journal to be born and it has grown enormously since then.
Noteworthy dreams in this category:
1-1: This is my top favorite of all my mud dreams. I get a lot of mind game events featuring this place with it's very simple-looking scene (highly monotonic), easily reproduced in scenes for games.
1-12: This dream is one of the most boring of all my dreams.
1-13: This is another one of my highest favorite mud dreams, also featured often in my mind game.
1-15: This dream has occurred more than once.
1-17: This is a dream that is a near-repeat of another.
1-18: This dream is another one of my highest favorites.
1-23: May belong in the "weird" category.
1-33: This dream is the most well-recalled within this category and one with a very good story.
1-36: This dream had the Mythbusters going in mud and just 3 days later, I saw a show with a strikingly similar sinking behavior as the dream showed.
Dream 1-11: School play and mud
Occurred in Oct or Nov 2003; general - 7.5; nature - 8!; story - 6?; scenery - 6; fun - 7; scary - 1; weird - 3; imagery - 20% in tact; dream - 15% in tact
A school play that takes place in a mud pool within the school may seem strange, but I've had a dream just like that. In this school play there was plenty of mud walkin'. As part of the play appearantly went, the class jumped into the mud [I had to as well] and walked around in it. I don't remember much of anything about this dream, however, but I do know that I've had it once.
Recalled scenes:
1. I'm walking with my class in the school with a central area of mud clearly visible. I'm participating in a school play so I'm rehearsing for it.
2. I'm speaking with the teacher while some of the class is in the mud. I don't remember what the conversation was about.
3. I'm acting in the play in the mud pool and some visitors are watching the area.
Dream 1-12: Wild Wild Westerners trapped by a quicksand road
Occurred in 2000 or 2001; general - 3; nature - 4; story - 2!; scenery - 4; fun - 0.3!!!; scary - 1??; weird - 3; imagery - 12% in tact; dream - 6% in tact
Being trapped by a road which was quicksand is plain weird. It was of a city surrounded by quicksand roads in a Western-type setting. A group of four wanted to return home, however, the group couldn't get anywhere because of the quicksand that they were surrounded by. It was after hours and they needed to get home but couldn't. Like the school dream above, I don't remember much about it, though I do know that there was a lot of talking going on. I don't even remember if they jumped into the quicksand.
Dream 1-13: Indoor mud rivers
Occurred around 1999 or 2000!; general - 6?; nature - 8.5!; story - 5??; scenery - 5.5?; fun - 4; scary - 0; weird - 2; imagery - 18% in tact; dream - 14% in tact
Rivers of mud aren't all that rare, but it is rare and weird when it's indoors inside a very large building. In this dream there were miniature rivers of mud about 2 feet deep. These rivers were just wide enough to fit a human fully with not much room to spare on either side [or roughly 3 feet wide]. Surrounding the rivers were cliffs that weren't all that high, about 2 feet above the top of the mud. Eventually, someone in this dream came along and assisted me. He was the one who walked around in the mud while I kept to the higher regions. Much of what happened in this dream has been forgotten, but what it looked like is hardly forgotten.
Recalled scenes:
1. I see land of a dark magenta-like color with mud of a dark brown color. The "mud river channels" were narrow looking to be around 3 feet wide (up to 5 feet in some places).
2. I have someone with me as a tour guide. He/she walked in the mud while I was up on the higher areas.
Dream 1-14: Snow mud
Occurred in early 2003; general - 6?; nature - 6.5; story - X; scenery - 6?; fun - 5??; scary - 1?; weird - 4; imagery - 4% in tact!!; dream - 10% in tact
Mud made out of snow is very weird, especially when it has the same properties as mud. This dream was outdoors. The ground had snow about a half an inch deep which ain't much. There was a large snow pile around the center of what appeared to be a school of some sort. This snow pile was also a mud pool that was strangely designed. If you were to stand on the top of the snow hill, you'd sink in mud that is 3 feet deep. Any areas where the snow hill was 3 feet high or higher, you'd be in 3 feet of mud. The snow hill, though the image is vague and unclear, is likely to be about 8 feet high total.
Dream 1-15: Floating city of mud
Occurred in 2000 and again in early 2004; general - 7; nature - 8.3!; story - 6; scenery - 9.3!!; fun - 6; scary - 2; weird - 6!; imagery - 40% in tact; dream - 35% in tact
A city floating in mid-air with a pathway made of mud is what this dream was about. The streets were like that of solid air. If you step off, you fall down a long ways. Though this city was unsuitable for most, I was suitable for this place. The first occurance of this dream isn't that well-remembered. Basically, what happened in the second occurance was the same as the first, only the second featured the commonly-mentioned special abilities I use, especially the 90-foot jumps and what is called a fall-glide-hop†‡†. As the dream started, I'm in this floating city looking around a bit, but I notice an area of unusually smooth "land". I step onto it and sink just a little bit into mud. I walked out further and further into it and the mud got deeper and deeper. There was one area that, if you were in it, you'd sink then fall into the secret area below, which had even more mud. At first, the mud was very easy to walk in, but, as I headed around the corner, the mud was getting thicker and thicker, thus harder and harder to walk in. I turned back the other way to where it was softer then found the secret area and sank falling into the secret area. The mud never falls from here. To give you a better understanding of this, let's say that you were down in the secret area looking up. Eventually, you'll see my feet appear then I'll accelerate then fall down. It's air in this area. The landing area is solid. I found my way through this area and started to return to the city. This here is basically what happened in the first occurance of this dream. The second occurance is basically the same thing for the beginning part, only it's a little quicker and longer-lasting. The extra length comes from jumping around really high and looking around the city hopping between buildings which were floating in the air. I eventually got into a small fight, but, I likely woke up.
Dream 1-16: The mud lake and mud monster in a stadium
Occurred on Oct 3, 2004; general - 4; nature - 1.5!; story - X; scenery - 4?; fun - 3??; scary - 3; weird - 3; imagery - 60% in tact; dream - 10% in tact
This dream might seem a little sad. It took place in an area that resembled a football (not soccer) stadium only widened to twice the width making it almost square. Inside this stadium, in the center, was a big pool of mud. Near the center was a monster which looked like it was stuck in it and looked like a dragon with a super long neck. The stands were filled with watchers, some of them look as if ready to just jump in the mud. In fact, there were a few humans in the mud, but not up to their necks unlike most other dreams, maybe just a foot deep. They were standing along the walls. Some of them, however, did go waist deep in the mud but that was about it, usually about 8 or so feet from the wall. I was in this dream, and I, too, was in the mud, a bit deeper than most others were at.
What actually happened in this dream, unfortunately, has been forgotten, but I liked this one. As usual, I can remember scenes of the dream so well, but not the events. I wonder why that is....
Recalled scenes:
1. I'm in the lower parts of the stands around the stadium watching the dragon-like monster "struggle" in the deep mud. The dragon was a greenish gray color and appears to be sort of like a common fictional dragon having a body length, from head to tail, of nearly 120 feet with it's neck taking up about 60% of this (72 feet). I can recall some red "lines" along it's back of a reddish gray color (as if it was part of it's skin pigment). I can't describe the dragon that well. The dragon didn't have wings as far as I could tell.
2. I jump into the mud and walk out a little ways to get a close up of that monster. I also noted some humans just standing in the mud watching that monster.
Dream 1-17: Quicksand flooring
Occurred on Oct 13, 2004; general - 6; nature - 7.5; story - 6; scenery - 6; fun - 7; scary - 1; weird - 6!; imagery - 80% in tact!; dream - 85% in tact!
Sometimes, I tend to have repeated dreams, often with a small change. Remarkably similar to quicksand carpets dream, this dream had quicksand for the flooring. It was practically an identical copy to the quicksand carpets dream only with two small exceptions.
The first exception is that this dream hardly had any carpets. Tiles of types, wooden floors, and a few places of dirt were quicksand. Once you stepped on it, you had to keep moving as, if you stood still, you'll gradually sink into it.
The second exception was a part in the middle of the story. Strange as it was, I really wanted to play in a big pool of mud. I was given a pool, but the pool had two monsters in it: one big resembling a snake, and a small one resembling a lizard. I managed to battle these monsters away and it worked well so I had a pretty big pool, about 12 by 12 feet all to myself. Technically, it was more like mud water than mud but with a lot of sand. Mud is thicker and this was about half as bad.
As the story started, much of which has been forgotten, I was looking around a small building. On the side was a sign saying that, when you get off the main path, keep moving or you'll sink. There were a bunch of residents in this area as well. I started to explore the area which was sort of like a small maze.
I saw a room that looked interesting, but forgot about the "stand still and sink" warning. I entered the room and looked around standing still. A short while later, I noticed that things seemed to go up. I looked down and saw myself submerged a little into the floor! I got out quite well and was able to free myself. It's slow-sinking quicksand, a quarter of an inch per second slow.
I liked the feel of the quicksand so I let myself sink into it a bit, got out then sunk back in. I found it quite fun. I tried another room, only this room you sunk 50% faster as was made of glass tiles for the floor. I tried a third and fourth room with varying speeds of sinking. One time, I sunk in waist deep, but pulled myself out with the many clamps and stuff that lined the walls. I liked it and someone offered me to a pool of mud, but said that it had some tough monsters in there.
I saw the pool and looked around it but didn't see any monsters. The monsters were actually in the pool. I jumped in anyway and found that it was more like water with a lot of dirt in it. I felt one of the monsters grab me and I started a short battle and I won. I discarded the monsters off the side and made sure they were dead by repeatedly attacking them, jumping on them with a big stomp (youch! Talk about losing 15,000 hit points per attack!). I then jumped back in my little 12x12 foot pool and walked around in it. It was about 4 feet deep or to the heart level. I then tried to lay on my back in it and I laid in it for some time and fell asleep in it.
I woke up instantly later to find a sudden jump of time occurred. I got out of the pool and explored the area some more and sinking into the room's varying types of sink stuff.
Yes, this dream was odd and, now that I think about it, 92% identical to the quicksand carpets dream, even the story line.
Recalled scenes:
1. I'm looking at a sign saying "stand still, you'll sink" or something close to that. I know the word "sink" was on there.
2. I'm looking around in a room with glass tiles, some clamps and "ladders" on the sides of the walls, and I can recall a few jackets and stuff as well.
3. I'm looking at a big 12x12 foot pool of light brown mud with the floor extending a foot higher than the surface of it. The surrounding walls are of a darker brown color (as if specially treated with something).
4. I'm taking the monsters out, one of which was a snake, and the other something like a large lizard, both a foot long. The monsters were laid just outside the pool.
5. I can see myself floating in the pool and I eventually fall asleep in it.
Dream 1-18: Mud river canyon
Occurred around late 2003 or early 2004; general - 8!; nature - 9!!; story - 4???; scenery - 5?; fun - 6; scary - 0; weird - 4; imagery - 70% in tact; dream - 30% in tact
A river in a desert made out of gooey mud (no water) is very strange, but this dream was like that. It was sort of like a canyon with lots of overhanging cliffs. This dream focused in one main area, an area in which there was a slope, about a 4:3 ratioࠠ that took you about 50 or so feet above the ground. At the top, it's a bit flat, but straight below you is a river of nothing but mud for every cubic foot.
As far as I can remember, there were a few humans that walked out into this river of mud and played around in it. They seemed to like it. I just kept to the high places until, at some point, I jumped off that 50-foot cliff and used the fall-glide splattering in the mud. As far as I know, I did play around in the mud a bit and got in quite deep.
Recalled scenes:
1. I'm watching the area at a few humans with only their heads showing which seemed weird. I'm looking at one really high area that resembles a cliff that starts from the ground rising up at about a 4:3 slope ratio (if you move 4 units horizontally, you'll move up 3).
2. (animated) I'm on top of the 50-foot high cliff that came out from the ground. I jump off and use the fall-glide and kersplat into the mud. I get out and repeat the process a few times. Then, I just stay in the mud and walk around.
Dream 1-19: Farmer's field has quicksand
Occurred in 2003?; general - 6; nature - 6.5; story - 7; scenery - 5.5; fun - 7; scary - 1; weird - 4; imagery - 60% in tact; dream - 20% in tact
Now who would have a farm of quicksand growing quicksand? This dream seems to have such a farmer. I was exploring around and saw this big, flat, open field with absolutely nothing there but dirt. I crossed this after crossing a highway. I suddenly realized that I sunk in it quite deep, probably about 4 feet or so. After playing around in this quicksand pool for some time, I finally found a house that was surrounded by the quicksand. There were some humans around this house and, as far as I can remember, I spoke to them a bit and left.
Recalled scenes:
1. (short animated) I'm looking at the highway near my house and across it is a farmer's field that was very flat (there really isn't any in the real world). I enter this farmer's field and find that a few areas were quicksand.
2. I see a house in the distance that covers a tiny amount of the field of view (like viewing a house from about 500 feet away). The house is a very light gray color, almost white.
3. I'm speaking with someone that owns that field. I don't have a clue what he/she was saying.
Dream 1-20: Bamboo grass in quicksand
Occurred around 2002; general - 5; nature - 6.5; story - 4??; scenery - 5?; fun - 6; scary - 0; weird - 5; imagery - 40% in tact; dream - 20% in tact
On the side of a highway, there's a bunch of quicksand with short bamboo-like grass growing from the bottom. Seems strange until you realize you have to walk in it in the middle of nowhere. On the side of a roadway, there is a bunch of grass that looks sort of like bamboo or something. Surrounding the grass 1/4 inch in diameter is a big pool of quicksand. The grass' intensity near the road is very light, but away from the road, you encounter thick bunches of this grass. The grass itself, extends 6 to 12 inches out of the 3 foot-deep quicksand. In this dream I was walking along in this quicksand apparently trying to get to a store. I wondered around going in the same direction but occasionally sidestepping.
