What are your computer dreams?
Earlier in my past, I wasn't involved with the computer as I didn't find it exciting (since all you could do at the time was type and otherwise couldn't play worthy games). Later on, especially during 1999 to 2000, I gradually got involved and by July 23, 2001, I was heavily involved due to the discovery of internet forums. These dreams revolve around the computer outside games. They, for some odd reason, tend to be disliked and some almost considered as nightmares (such as getting a virus or someone pointing to warez, both of which I have actual dreams of). They are vaguely recalled with around neutral ratings. These dreams are rarely encountered and mainly only occur when something major involving the computer happen for real (such as the case of my computer hard freezing in the BIOS - I got several dreams related to this).

Dream 9-11: Monitor driver issues and strange actions with the toilet

I recall 2 parts to this dream. At the start, I got my new monitor. I have no recalled scenes of opening the box and hooking it up. I do have one scene where I set the resolution from my previous 1600x1200 to 1920x1440. The monitor, however, sets it to 1920x1080 causing things to become stretched. I also see "driver error" on the status bar of the control panel. I tried rebooting the computer and trying other things except reinstalling the drivers. I was about to do so, getting the disk out, but the dream ended.
The second part occurred sometime during my troubleshooting. It was where I was sitting on the toilet. I, repeatedly, touched the cold water in the toilet by lowering myself into it. I recall doing this about 5 times or so. I don't recall anything else.
Dream 9-12: Fixing broken computer with temp at -30°C

I only recall one event. The event is where I'm fixing my broken computer. I do something, but don't recall what, and when I check the BIOS for the temp, I see it as -30-something in Celcius. That's colder than a cold winter day in ND! I otherwise don't recall anything else. This dream occurred two days after my computer became inoperable (see my blog for details) and likely the reason of it's occurrance.
Dream 9-13: Got back the wrong computer and going to Itamor, Alaska

I only recall 2 parts to this dream. The first was that I supposedly got my computer back. It turned out that I got a completely different system. When I first turned it on, I checked the CPU temp in the BIOS and saw it hovering around 61°C so I thought they fixed it. I started into Windows and found everything completely different - different installed software, different desktop background, etc.). I found that I received the wrong system. I recall a "#2 of 3" sticker on the case.
The second part was that I saw that my dad was about to get $100,000. He had to go to Itamor, Alaska to get it. Both of us were unfamiliar with that town and thus looked it up on the internet (probably using Google Maps). We saw it was in northeastern Alaska surrounded on 3 sides by water. There was a small opening of about 4 or so miles that made it possible to drive all the way there. I mentioned either flying there or driving there. According to the map I saw of this area, it was of a very elongated ellipse 20 miles long by a mere 4 miles wide. The lake/water surrounding it was about 10 miles across or so on average. I don't recall anything else.
At the time this dream occurred, I was just about to get my computer back from the service center and when I did get it back the day the dream occurred (about 8 hours later or so), it was indeed different, but not as my dream depicted. I had the same software and stuff, it's just that my start up items and resolution were changed and took a bit to get back to normal. I did a Google Maps search for the place depicted in my dream and found an area strikingly similar to what I saw in my dream There area centered here on Google Maps looks a lot like what I saw in my dream, but it's in the southeastern part rather than the northeast and there's no town here as far as I can tell.
Dream 9-14: New TV capture card in computer and a brief shower

With the TV capture card installed and stuff for real, and it not working, I had this dream depict that, when I started up my computer again, it worked and I could play my games on it. In my dream, the colors were off, mainly the green, and I looked at the controls to adjust this and get true color. I had a 2D Sonic game playing - a remake of Ice Cap Zone (with 16-bit color and better 3D effects). I fixed the color and was amazed at the clarity.
10 minutes after starting this, my dad mentioned of getting something somewhere. I was to take a shower first and did so. The odd thing this time was that the tub was 2 feet away from the wall with a linolium floor unprotected. Unlike many of my dreams where cold water was diliberately used, I was using my normal temp. 5 minutes of the shower and the dream ends.
Dream 9-15: CPU latch problems and CPU works outside computer

I vaguely recall this dream. I recall the last 5 minutes the best. I'm working with my computer and I find the processor loosely attached due to the latching mechanism being broken or worn out. I took the CPU out and used various other latching items and, even if outside the computer, the computer ran just fine as if the CPU was actually inside. I don't recall anything else, not even where I was at.
Dream 9-16: New power supply doesn't resolve squealing issue

This dream occurred shortly after resolving my squealing power supply issue. I vaguely recall it. What I do recall is that I installed my new power supply that I got but when I turned my computer on, the squealing sound was still present and just as bad. I began to troubleshoot the cause in more detail but that's all I recall. Scenery-wise, all I recall is my computer case and me next to it listening for the source of the squealing more carefully.
In the real world, this did not happen, so I find this dream, occurring 2 days after the real event (usually, it's a few days to a week before it occurs), rather strange, as if I checked out another time path or something.
Dream 9-17: Old computer shows a dead human body after slowing down

This weird computer dream is also a bit unnerving. I start up my old computer (the Pentium 4 one) and it works fine for about 10 minutes. The music then starts abrupting stopping and slows to a crawl. 15 seconds after this, the computer turns itself off, showing a somewhat disgusting-looking dead human white male's body on the monitor, giving me an unnerving feeling. I said to myself that the computer supposedly died. I tried turning it back on but nothing happened.
I waited a few minutes and tried again - it worked for 10 more minutes. I saw this as a chance to run backup so I copied files to my external hard drive. Again, it began slowing down so I closed my programs but couldn't in time. Just as the computer turned off, the dead body showed.
I waited a few more minutes and the same thing happened again (10 minutes running then a slow down). I recall using the HWW forums and barely sent a post in time before the slowing. This time, I just used "shut down" from Windows. This went quickly but not fast enough. I turned my monitor off upon seeing the task bar vanish.
Two more rounds followed using "shut down". The first one was successful as I was fast enough. The same dead body showed on the last round.
At the time this dream occurred, my old Pentium 4 system died (no POST) so I had to replace it. When I got the new computer and hooked it up, I was unable to start Windows, so I had to use one of my old hard drives to install Windows to to access the main hard drive to run backup. I think this is where this dream originated, only the dream happened on the day I got the parts in the mail, where I spent 8 hours putting it together while recording a video for YouTube. The dream hinted to an unforeseen problem to occur about 12 hours after the dream occurred where I attempted to run backup.
